Here’s an idea for a comical fake story I’d like to submit to The Babylon Bee. 😅 Former NFL coach Tony Dungy, who led the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl victory in 2007 is very open about his Christian faith. He has been the subject of fleeting controversy ever since his disapproval of same-sex marriage became public. Dungy has served as an analyst on NBC's   Football Night in America . Now he has recently announced the launch of his faith-based semi-pro sports league called CROSS: the Christian Roster Of Sanctified Sports. It is a trilateral sports venue: kickball, pushball, and dodgeball. CROSS currently has ten teams, each one that represents a denomination of organized Christendom. In the spring of 2016, I spent three days in the psych behavioral health ward at Franciscan Hospital in Dyer, Indiana.   While I was there, we had a therapist that had a big load of magazines with her.   She asked us to cut out pictures from the magazines, then glue them to a large piece of paper to build a collage that represents our lives and feelings.   This is what I made. ·         The big red tool chest reminds me of the many times I worked hard at tending to my church building as a trustee. In fact, the church had (still has) a red tool chest much like the picture.   I selected the “fixer upper” header and the zip ties for the same reason. ·        The refrigerated fruits and vegetables remind me of my then-recent purchase and frequent use of a food dehydrator. In June 2020, Seattle, Washington was stormed by a mob called “CHAZ” (The Capitol Hill Autonomy Zone). I wrote this, and posted it on Facebook while they were having a grand ol’ time with their self-proclaimed “sovereign nation” which the loony leftist City tolerated for far too long. SMH! How to turn a Chess game into a CHAZ game. (1) Replace Kings with “Thronedwellers” which are not gender-specific nor intimidating. (2) Replace Queens with “Assistant Thronedwellers” likewise. (3) Replace Bishops (bearing crosses) with “Spiritual Advisors” (bearing “coexist” logos) to be all-inclusive. (4) Change the Knight pieces from horses to bulls, because bull best describes the CHAZ ideology. (5) Change the Rook pieces from castles to Space Needle skyscrapers, not only because CHAZ is in Seattle, but mainly because their minds are always in outer space. Something dawned on me while I was reading the Book of Daniel in prep for VBS one year. Why didn’t I see this sooner? King Nebuchadnezzar had a creepy dream in Chapter 2. He saw a huge statue made of multiple metals. The head was gold; the arms and chest were silver; the midsection and thighs were bronze; the lower legs were iron; and the feet were iron and clay mixed. A huge rock fell from the sky, crushed the feet, and caused the entire statue to crumble. God told Daniel to interpret that dream for the King. The golden head represented King Nebuchadnezzar, while all the other portions of the statue represented future kingdoms that will come and go. The falling rock (or meteor) represents the Kingdom of God coming to earth and smashing the last of Earth’s mightiest empires. Although King Nebuchadnezzar didn’t like what he was hearing, he was still convinced that Daniel was a true prophet of God. We all have our comfort zones.   Mine may be different from yours, but they all have two things in common: (1) They keep us comfortable, and (2) They get between us and God.   Through the preaching of Pastor Daniel Hendon and Dr. David Platt, God has been nudging me to step outside of my comfort zones, but without “telling” me just how, in any specific ways.   (Can you relate?)   So, after some prayer and soul searching, I recalled some examples when I left my comfort zone to serve the Lord. In two consecutive summers (one week in 2006 and another in 2007), I worked on church building construction projects in Alabama.   Builders for Christ is a ministry of volunteer workers that help with such labor.   Both years I was with them, the summer heat and humidity were very intense! After all, it was Alabama in July!   On the inside of those unfinished buildings, we had limited air circulation (even with fans), and on the outside, the sun was beating down...
